Is learning specific information (facts: dates, names, locations, etc.) as important today for the “Google Generation” as it was before such information was so easily accessible?

Murray Wardrop explains one view of the matter: That, if education techniques evolve with technology, teachers should begin to teach creative and analytical thinking as opposed to facts. The hope is that a generation of students who are able to think effectively and also have access to the infinite source of knowledge that is the Internet will be able to better serve society.
